What do we want?
-BRAINS!
When do we want them?
-NOW!
This past Saturday evening saw the annual Raleigh Zombie Walk return to downtown Raleigh. Although I didn’t dress the part, I was curious enough to go and see it for myself. What I saw was a surprisingly large number of people, including families with children in strollers, taking part in the walk. Because there was a wine festival taking part in Moore Square itself, the zombies had to gather along one side of the square, surprising a number of folks who were just walking by. They were overall friendly zombies, although one enthusiastic participant showed up with what I’m hoping was a chainsaw, but sans chain. Another kept chasing and tackling people like a zombie from 28 Days Later, his hands covered in copious amounts of blood. Unfortunately, being at 7pm in late October meant it was too dark to get a good picture of a van slowly passing by that got tagged with his bloody handprints.
When Toronto is full, the dead shall walk in Raleigh.

Odds are that if you have a credit card, the issuer has mailed your or even phoned you about the ever escalating problem of identity theft, offering you services to help cut down on its effects should you become its victim. Identity theft is a terrible thing, don’t get me wrong, but the fear mongering may not be the best way to motivate someone to action. I put forth the following suggestion:
“Shredding financial documents is fun, kids!”

The infamous capacitor leakage that my desktop’s motherboard was widely known for has finally happened. And being 5 years old or so it’s going to be a pain to find an exact replacement.

Yay me. You’ll find that I put this blog up some time after I started writing things down, so the publish dates will often be confusing.
Deal with it!

IBM provides us with discounted soft drinks, all the better to keep us going. While Diet Coke is my vice of choice and this machine can vend that sweet, sweet nectar all day long, for some reason our floor has the most tempermental machine I’ve ever seen.

It ’s true, I hate this machine sometimes. Happy Halloween!

OK, so after watching the latest episode of Lost, I was disappointed to find that the timer in the hatch is 108 minutes, not 10800 seconds. 10800 is an interesting number because it’s exactly 3 hours long expressed in seconds. 108 was random.
At least until a co-worker told me that The Numbers add up to 108.
And I’d done the math in my head earlier and gotten it wrong.

So, it’s been 6+ months since my last entry. Things seem to fly by week after week without anything eventful, but one thing did catch my eye recently. After my trip to Boston to visit my brother, I became enamored with the idea of building a Windows Media Center PC. The appeal of a machine where I could do more than just watch videos and that could itself record two things at once was just too irresistable. Anyway, I was checking the list of recordings when I stumbled across a jaw-dropping number: 50 Series are set for recording.
50. Take a moment to digest that number.
Still with me? OK, so it’s not really 50 different series so much as different settings for some of the same series and some of them aren’t even airing new episodes at the same time, but it’s a simple fact that I can’t (and won’t) watch all of them. Like the networks, it’s time for me to start dropping shows.
